Description
ASTM A563M Heavy Hex Nut
ASTM A563M Heavy hex Nut specification covers chemical and mechanical requirements for eight property classes of hex and hex-flange carbon and alloy steel.
These nuts for general structural and mechanical uses on bolts, studs, and other externally threaded parts.
Astm A563M Materials shall be tested and the individual grades shall conform to specified values of material. Such as hardness and proof load, chemical, and mechanical requirements.
General:
The ASTM A563 specification covers the chemical and mechanical requirements for carbon and alloy steel nuts. It used on bolts, studs, and externally threaded fasteners. Various nut styles exist and to some degree are determined by their grade. These styles include hex, heavy hex, square, jam, coupling, and sleeve.
Structural nuts, such as A563 Grade DH or A194 Grade 2H, gain their strength through the heat treating process. Non-structural nuts are not heat treated, but are often manufactured from steel that is not weldable due to its high carbon content.
In Fact the ASTM A-563M “Class 10S” Heavy Hex Nut is recommended for zinc-coated. While the “class 8S” Nut is recommended for plain A-325M Bolts. The “Class 10S” Nut can be substituted with the approval of the customer.
